The first objective, to learn OpenFOAM CFD tools and tutorials on Linux OS with special attention in mesh generation, has been done in a 90%. The 10% remaining corresponds to some specific details in the tutorials, such as some coefficients used to describe arcs, how they are defined and so on.
The second objective, to learn ParaView in Windows, is done considering ParaView as a tool to visualize the OpenFoam results and problems (mesh, fields, boundary conditions, rotations, superposition of different running results).
The third objective, to create simple (small scale) example problems in OpenFOAM, is covered. Although there is an infinite number of possible problems. So it is necessary to keep solving and exploring new problems.
The fourth objective, to visualize the result of these examples in ParaView, is done. In each problem the mesh, the results, the transition to a stable condition, the comparison between different running results.
The fifth objective, to discuss issues related to the transition to the Real Problem, is done. Once the well known installation and running troubles are solved, the plan now is to get available information of the Real Problem to visualize it. This will be done with sets of relatively large data during the following weeks. Hopefully the thesis objectives will be defined during this summer. See Projection related topic.

Installing FoamX (and Fill all the gaps that could appear in the installation) with OpenFOAM software is necessary to follow the tutorials.
Installing ParaView 3.2.1 in the Windows machines is not recommendable to open files generated by OpenFOAM.
Installing the Precompiled ParaView 3.x binary version with built-in OpenFOAM native reader in the Windows machines allows to work with OpenFOAM files (but see the following recommendation.
Learn how the data files look like, this will help to recognize damaged files (repare them) and avoid doing those damages.
When there are few files involved in some case carried to a Windows computer for visualiztion, one posibility is to change the root access in all files, so they coincide with the real location in the Windows PC. Better than that, and because there are a lot of files in large applications, try reproducing the complete Linux path in the Windows computer. This saves a lot of time.

Although the OpenFoam tutorials do not cover every detail to get involved (or at least it is this personal experience case), they conform a very useful tool to learn this program.
Although the FoamX is an application developed to manage OpenFoam problems, it allows the user to introduce to the OpenFoam dictionaries. After the learning process the user can change some dictionary files directly or he/she could continue use FoamX (or both).

As a first step in the line of a Thesis, this Project is the base for the future work.
Some conversations about the Real Problem are defining the activities for the summer time. Hopefully, at the end of the summer, the Thesis objectives will be stablished.
