Examples of Visual Insights

In this section we provide evidence and hopefully some insight into how researchers have discovered new information from their scientific data sets using visual data analysis. The sources of these data sets include experimental measurements, supercomputer simulations, and complex analytical functions.

Regardless of the data source, in all cases we observed that from the researchers view point a specific graphical tool was best suited for their particular application. Hence, we support a variety of visual tools so that the investigator can choose from a variety of existing software visual data analysis tools such as PV-Wave, AVS, Explorer or design their own Graphical User Interface (GUI) using open-GL or other GUI tools embedded withing existing software packages.

From this review you should be able to gain some idea about the variety of graphical tools available. In addition, perhaps these examples will provide a basis for your own decision on how to approach a particular data set.
