Subject: CAVE usage and staffing

Dear Ron,

As one of the Engineering College Principal Investigators on the successful
CAVE acquisition proposal, I continue to anticipate using the CAVE for our
group's research when it comes on-line.

A critical issue for our use of the CAVE is technical support for
programming, which goes well beyond the standard day-to-day operating of the
CAVE. Our group will need the assistance of a highly qualified person who
can work with us in developing our CAVE applications. In the absence of
such help, I believe that the start-up effort for effectively using the CAVE
might be prohibitively high.

As the CAVE Steering Committee begins to address issues of support staff for
operations and programming of the facility, I wanted to make sure that you
and the Committee recognize the important needs of one of the end-users in
the University Community.

I look forward to working with you and other CAVE supporters in the near future.

Sincerely,

Bill
