ACITC UVAG 5-Year Operation Budget Request

Summary

Last Thursday, 10 April 1997, Len Peters, Vice Provost of Research & Dean of the Graduate School, Ken Reifsnider, Associate Director of Interdisciplinary Programs & Chairman of the CAVE Steering Committee and Ralph Byers, Director of Government Relations visited key Congressional contacts who indicated an opportunity for ACITC funding. Both John Fulton and Ken Reifsnider have requested a list from each of the ACITC authors in support of ACITC activities. After a personal discusion with Ken Reifsnider to get more of an idea about what such a list should include, I've simply added to the previous equipement list posted Jan 97 and posted a more itemized list that constitutes a 5-year operating budget for the UVAG below.

Note ,the previous Jan 97 equipment request was designed to establish a rough estimate of equipment that would be needed for the UVAG. The list posted below includes much more than just equipment and furniture. Please contact me at kriz@wave.esm.vt.edu if you want to comment, add or delete items from the list posted below. I know this list first appears to be an exercise in illusions of grandeur but it never hurts to ask.

* This is a rough estimate on high end workstation that would run Sense8 software 
and other nonSGI CAVE compatible software.  A more accurate estimate will be 
given once someone at VT has configured such a system and can provide some 
quidance on what to buy.
